Where is Gilbert located?

The easiest way to reach Gilbert is by the U3 metro line or tram line 49. From Volkstheater station (Burggasse exit), it’s about a 200-meter walk to Breite Gasse 9. Volkstheater station is an important inner-city transport hub; via the underground Bellaria passage, it connects the MuseumsQuartier and the Ringstraße, which is about 300 meters away. From the stops of tram lines 1, 2, 71, D, and 48A, you can also reach your hotel in about 8–10 minutes.

How do I get to the city?

Gilbert is located right in the heart of Vienna’s social life. The MuseumsQuartier is only about 100 meters away. The Natural History Museum, the Art History Museum, and the Ringstraße are all within a 10-minute walk. The U3 metro line takes you directly to St. Stephen’s Cathedral in just a few minutes.

How do I get to the airport?

You can reach the airport by public transport – the easiest way is to take the U3 line to Landstraße/Wien Mitte station. From there, the City Airport Train (CAT) and the S7 suburban train run directly to Vienna Airport approximately every 30 minutes.

By car, it’s best to drive via Gumpendorfer Straße, Getreidemarkt, and Heumarkt, then continue via Dampfschiffstraße to the A4 motorway junction, which takes you directly to the airport. In good traffic conditions, the journey takes about 30 minutes.

Where am I allowed to park?

Parking throughout Vienna’s 7th district is subject to fees on public parking spaces, and in many areas parking is reserved for residents only. Gilbert therefore recommends using one of the nearby (paid) underground garages, for example at the MuseumsQuartier.

Electric cars can be charged at public charging stations operated by Wien Energie. The nearest ones are located at Breite Gasse 10–12 or Siebensterngasse 11.
